MARAKILL

This is a 2,200 sf addition to, and complete remodel of an existing 1,800 sf single-family residence. Located beneath the white cliffs of the Shawangunk ridge, this design was driven by the desire to accentuate and maximize the stunning views. Intended initially as a way to make the existing house liveable on a single level, the project morphed into much more than that throughout the design process. A large feature wall is angled towards the cliffs, but the exterior walls of the addition remain aligned with the existing orientation of the house. Details from the original house, such as the extensive use of pine, are carried over into the addition and combined with a clean and modern aesthetic to create a marriage of styles that fits the natural landscape wonderfully.
